for Middle & High School Students

WEDNESDAYS

Throughout the school year, students in 6th – 12th grade gather for an engaging service designed just for them. The event is from 6:45PM to 8:15PM, but students like to show up early and stay late just to enjoy time together. Our energetic adult staff develop connections with the students as they develop their faith in Jesus through Biblically rich messages. Students lead in worship music and of course there is always a game and fun elements as well. The highlight for most students is the time they spend in small groups based on grade and gender, where they unpack the learning and strengthen their relationships with each other. Life-long friendships are built on these Wednesday nights.

EVENTS

Throughout the year we have various events and special trips. In the early part of the year we travel to Lake Ann camp for the Winter Freeze Out. Each summer we plan special camps and mission trips as well. We also enjoy park nights, pool parties, game nights and various other extra events.

PARENTS

We are in this together! At SCS, we like to say we are partnering with parents to help students develop their faith. You are the primary influence on their lives and we just want to come along side you and help students develop a deeper, richer faith in Jesus. With that said, there may be times when you have questions or need some support from the Youth Ministry team. We are here for you too!

QUESTIONS?

Any student between grade 6 and 12 can attend. You don’t have to attend our church regularly, so students are always encouraged to invite friends.

Our Wednesday program is focused on both age groups. We start off together in games and worship together through student led singing. Then Middle School students go into small groups (broken up by age and gender) while the High School students listen to the message. Afterward, they switch, and Middle School students come back for the message geared towards them as the High school students go into small groups (also broken up by age and gender.) This allows age-appropriate teaching and discussion.

Our weekly programing takes a break, but don’t worry—the summer fills up fast with park nights, service projects, pool parties, and summer trips. There is always something going on all year long.

It takes a team of dedicated adults to facilitate our student small groups and programming. Adult leaders are more than chaperones—they are mentors and dedicated spiritual guides for these students. If that sounds like you let Ken know and we can begin the application process. If you just have a resource or want to offer short term assistance, please feel free to contact our Student Pastor Ken Leslie.
